Job Description:

tug of war kids

BURKE, VA (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)-Wonderful mom in the Virginia suburbs of DC (10 miles from DC) seeks a FULL-TIME NANNY for her two boys, ages 9 and 7 years. Hours are from 9am-9:30pm Monday, 2-9:30pm Tuesday-Wednesday, and 3:30-9:30pm Thursday and Friday. Schedule may change to 3:30-9:30pm Tuesday-Friday depending on the school schedule changes due to COVID-19. During the summer, both boys will be in camp, so nanny will need to help in the morning (7:30 - 9:30 am) and then the afternoons (3 - 9:30 pm). Pay for 40 hours is guaranteed even if fewer hours are worked. Mom works from home most days due to COVID but will return to the office very soon. During school year (now through June 11), both boys are home on Monday and help is needed the entire day on Monday (9 - 9:30). The 9-year-old is in-person school Tues - Fri. The 7-year-old is at school Tues and Wed, and then virtual school Thurs and Fri. On Tues through Fri, help is needed in the afternoons and evenings with caring for kids and taking them to private therapy. Any travel for the boys for errands or therapy is within a 5-mile radius of the home. Must have a safe, reliable vehicle! The eldest has high functioning autism and ADHD, which results in outbursts, but is working hard with private therapy. He attends therapy 4 days per week for his younger brother goes 3 days per week (for ADHD) from 4:30-6:30. They also utilize behavior charts at home to manage behavior. He continues making huge improvements. Nanny will be responsible for taking the boys to therapy, waiting for their appointments to end, and taking them home. The 9-year-old is super sweet. He struggles when things don't go his way and will overreact because of his autism. When he calms down, he is always very sorry, so it's important to be calm during the outburst and talk it through with him without making him feel ashamed. The 7-year-old is high energy and funny. He loves clowning around. Both boys love to play outside and seek a nanny who does the same! Special needs experienceis not required, just patience, a calm demeanor and a willingness to learn the tools that are already in place. 2-4 hours of paid training will be provided to help the nanny understand and predict autism behavior and utilize behavior charts. They seek a nanny who is extremely patient under pressure. Someone who can juggle multiple things and implement the behavior charts (simple stuff like if you hit you lose all electronics for the rest of the day). They need someone with a calm and caring energy. Someone who understands that a special needs child is unique and wonderful just like any other child rather than being annoyed with the behaviors. They have a cat in the home, so no allergies! Benefits include 6 paid holidays. Pay is $23-25/hour. Additional paid time off is negotiable. Start date is ASAP!
