  The Senior Database Developer leads the design, development, and optimization of complex database systems that support mission-critical applications. This role requires expertise in relational database technologies, data modeling, and data integration to ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure data systems. The Senior Database Developer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including DevOps and software developers, to implement scalable and maintainable data solutions that meet customer needs and comply with federal standards. Responsibilities include maintaining database integrity, performance, security, and guiding best practices for data management.

  • Synthesizes business requirements and drives solution development.
    
  • Collaborates with designers, product managers, and engineers to build new features.
    
  • Mentors and coaches team members.
    
  • Manages all phases of the development lifecycle from task creation to deployment.
    
    Functional Role
    
    • 
      
    • Designs, develops, and maintains secure, efficient, and scalable database solutions.
      
    • Translates business needs into robust database structures and data flows.
      
    • Establishes best practices for database design, development, and documentation.
      
    • Resolves complex performance issues and query problems.
      
    • Improves data architecture, ETL processes, and infrastructure.
      
    • Recommends improvements to data strategies and governance.
      
    • Reviews database code, including stored procedures and ETL logic, providing feedback.
      
    • Demonstrates knowledge of data workflows, compliance, and operational needs.
      
      Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies
      Must-Have Skills
      
      • 
        
      • 15+ years of federal onsite experience supporting agency policies and workflows.
        
      • Expertise with SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
        
      • Experience designing and maintaining relational databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes.
        
      • Proficiency in Data Analysis, Modeling, and Integration tools like ERwin.
        
      • Knowledge of Data Governance frameworks and practices.
        
      • Preferred: Experience developing stored procedures, familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
        
      • Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred. Equivalent work experience may substitute for education.
        
      • Strong knowledge of federal security standards (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).
