• 24-hour call coverage

Response Requirements

• Emergency Consult Call Back: 15 minutes maximum
• On-Site Response Time: 30 minutes maximum

Required Licenses & CertificationsBoard Certification

• Board Certified Pediatric Surgery (Required)

Licensure

• Active Virginia Medical License (Required)

Practice DetailsClinical Responsibilities

• Surgical care for pediatric patients from newborn through teenage years
• Evaluate and diagnose surgical conditions
• Determine surgical necessity
• Perform preoperative, operative, and postoperative care
• Collaborate with pediatric specialists and providers

Inpatient Responsibilities

• Round on admitted patients
• Weekend surgical consultations as needed
• Emergency Department consult coverage

Call & VolumeCall Expectations

• Majority of after-hours calls originate from the Pediatric Emergency Department
• Office support staff available during daytime hours to assist with:
  • Call triage
  • Prescription refill requests
  • Administrative support

Patient Volume

• Average daily census: 0-4 patients per provider
• Emergency Department consults: 0-2 calls per day
• Approximately 8-10 emergent surgeries annually

Support & Resources

• Dedicated office support staff during daytime hours
