with documentation system Description: General Comments: Unit
specifics include a number of beds: 25. Patient ratios are 5-6
patients per nurse. Unit staffing includes 4-5 nurses and 1-3
patient care technicians. A department secretary is available
during the day shift. Currently hiring for additional support. Type
of equipment includes general nursing equipment for care of
medical-surgical patients. Patients primarily receive
post-operative care for orthopedic procedures. Documentation is
done using a specific electronic health record system. Scheduling
requirements include working 3 shifts per week with every other
weekend. There is no guarantee for block scheduling. Floating
policy allows for movement to similar units as needed. Patient
experience requirements include bedside shift reporting and safety
rounding. Staff is expected to use a standard communication
technique for all interactions. All patients should be treated with
courtesy and respect. Staff should keep patients informed about
their care and establish personal connections. No advanced nursing
skills are required for this position. There are no specific
bedside or unit procedures performed. Uniforms consist of navy
scrubs and closed-toe shoes. The unit follows established hospital
policies and guidelines. Awards and recognitions include numerous
nominations and positive patient experience measurements. The unit
is purpose-built and has ample equipment available for patient and
staff needs. There are several nursing staff members with extensive
tenure, including some with over 20 years of experience.
