Job Description:

A growing government contractor seeks a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will support the day-to-day activities of the accounting department functions. The ideal Senior Accountant candidate will be detail-oriented and have a thorough knowledge of GAAP.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

• Responsible for oversight of the month-end close process and maintenance of the general ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks.
• Prepare financial statements and regulatory reporting documents.
• Prepare and submit customer invoices, maintain related billing schedules, and resolve billing discrepancies and questions.
• Assist in preparation of corporate tax filings and payments.
• Document and maintain financial controls and accounting procedures and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Senior Accountant Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of relevant and progressive work experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • In-depth knowledge of government contracting accounting
  • Proficient working knowledge of accounting systems/software (QuickBooks preferred)
